Consecutive interpreting
An interpreting service in which the professional orally interprets short passages of the speaker's words, with the help of notes that he or she records in a small notebook; in this modality, the interpreter acts as a communication facilitator in technical, political and scientific meetings, field trips, interviews, etc.
According to the ABNT NBR ISO 23155 standard on interpreting services, "consecutive interpreting is the mode of interpreting that takes place after pauses by the speaker or signer," and may make use of note-taking to help process long passages.
